Competition is a major part of the barbershop world that helps keep us focused on raising the bar of performing excellence. Choruses and quartets come together in a spirit of lighthearted contest, to see who's really got top form. We cheer each other on, and once the medals have been handed out, we sing and party into the night!
Each Spring, Song of the Pines Chorus makes the trip to the hosting regional city to compete in our regional contest. Dozens of choruses and quartets come together to sing and compete. We are judged in the categories of sound, music, showmanship and sound. The 2012 regional contest will be held in Pasadena, California at the Pasadena Convention Center / Civic Center. The public is welcome and encouraged to attend. Tickets can be purchased at the box office. Come and join in the fun!
In the fall, all the winners of the regional contests gather together at International competition. In 2012, International competition will be held Denver, Colorado. You can view the complete contest on a live webcast on the Sweet Adelines International website. This is the ultimate female barbershop competition -- not to be missed!
