In 1963, a Midwestern woman by the name of Beverly Atkins brought her love of four-part barbershop harmony to Prescott and formed the first Sweet Adeline Chorus in Northern Arizona. Through the years, the chorus has undergone many changes, but the music has never stopped.
The chorus has been on the scene for celebrations, parades, hundreds of community functions and even appeared in a movie and opened a pro football game. Among the changes along the way was our very name -- Manzanita to Prescott Pines and most recently to Song of the Pines.
As this area of the State has grown, so has the scope of our membership. What began as a Prescott chorus now attracts singers from the entire Quad-City area, New River and Sedona.
In August 2003, Song of the Pines came under the direction of International Gold Medalist, Suzy Lobaugh. Suzy is a certified arranger and member of the Sweet Adelines International Faculty.
While we are proud of our past, we are positively exuberant about our future!
